Deriving the name from Area 51, Area Filthy One was formed three years ago in Atlanta.Two emcees – Akxsmittz (aka Dream aka Shadow 2) from the highly lyrical group Shadow Huntaz and O’Slick from distant diction-based group Pnt Blnk. It is a match made in one filthy area, not quite your squeaky clean image. In their own words:

“With the conspiracies of aliens, we felt our thoughts on hip hop (and music in general) were not on the same level as our surroundings. Our slogan “WE HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEAS" is just that: Our mental capacity consists of wordplay that is rare and reaches cosmic levels. We are interchangeable verbal Rubiks cubists, cadence contortionists who are brutal – but brutally honest.”

Iowa-born Mad EP is now based in the UK, after honing and perfecting his musical chops in Chicago, Montreal & New York. Years of performing in clubs & festivals worldwide inspired him to create a new sound for his arsenal- something heavy and raw. Mad EP’s experiments lead him to take 80’s hiphop beats, but instead of giving them a modern polish, he chose to toss them down a volcano and let them bake in Dante’s Inferno until charred to perfection. Burnt to a crisp and magma oozing from the pores, the beats were then road tested before finally submitting them to Area Filthy One. The result is a collection of 3 apocalyptic anthems (plus a heavyweight remix by Akira Kiteshi) for ultimate dancefloor destruction.


Packed up in heavy recycled paper with stunning comic artwork, this one is an absolute must-have for all those who seek quality in both music and the visual concept it comes with.
